This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who enjoys working in a fast-paced environment, thrives on variety and is passionate about supporting people across all areas of the business.

You’ll play a key role in supporting absence management and Occupational Health referrals, coordinating recruitment and onboarding, and ensuring all pre-employment checks are completed. You'll also help manage regulatory requirements relating to Bus and Tram DVLA documentation and provide valuable support to our HR Business Partners with employee relations casework.

Building positive relationships with managers and employees, you'll deliver a professional, responsive and customer-focused HR service, bringing excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and the ability to handle sensitive matters with discretion and confidentiality.

Key Responsibilities

What you'll be doing

  • HR Administration: Provide day-to-day HR administrative support, maintaining accurate employee records, processing starters, leavers and employee changes, and preparing HR documentation.
  • Recruitment & Onboarding: Support recruitment activities, coordinate interviews, manage pre-employment checks (including Right to Work, DBS and DVLA where required), process references and deliver a smooth onboarding experience.
  • Employee Relations: Attend HR meetings to take accurate and confidential notes, prepare supporting documentation and provide administrative support for investigations, disciplinaries, grievances and welfare matters.
  • Employee Support: Act as a first point of contact for routine HR queries, providing professional support to employees and managers and escalating matters where appropriate.
  • HR Projects & Communication: Support HR projects, employee engagement initiatives, internal communications, policy updates and wider business activities.
  • Compliance & Confidentiality: Ensure HR processes meet company policies, employment procedures and data protection requirements, handling sensitive information with discretion and professionalism.
  • Equality, Diversity & Inclusion: Support fair and inclusive recruitment practices and contribute to initiatives that promote workforce diversity and inclusion.
  • General Support: Work collaboratively across the business, assisting with wider HR duties and seasonal events as required.

What we're looking for

You’ll ideally have:

  • CIPD Level 3 qualification (or working towards), with Level 5 desirable.
  • Previous administrative experience in HR, recruitment, payroll or a similar environment.
  • Knowledge of safer recruitment, Right to Work checks and DBS processes.
  • Strong communication, organisation and IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and work accurately under pressure.
  • Experience using HR systems and taking formal meeting notes (desirable).

Most importantly, you'll be:

  • Professional, trustworthy and discreet.
  • Approachable, helpful and people-focused.
  • Organised, accurate and attentive to detail.
  • Calm and objective when handling sensitive matters.
  • Positive, flexible and willing to support the wider team.
