Sister/Charge Nurse Haematology and Oncology Day Unit

We are looking for a highly motivated, innovative, forward-thinking nurse who possesses the leadership qualities to manage and support our busy haematology day unit. You will provide expert clinical knowledge and judgment for our staff and patients. You will be expected to co-ordinate the unit safely and effectively and be willing to have a "hands-on" approach in providing high-quality care, whilst being visible and approachable on the unit at all times. This is a permanent position and you will be supported by the unit manager and clinical matron.

Main duties of the job:

• To assist in the safe co-ordination of the Haematology Day Unit.
• To be a senior chemotherapy nurse, supporting junior members of the team.
• To assist with managerial duties.
• To supervise and assess students and junior band 5 nurses.
• The patient and patients are always put first.
• That in all issues, the patient/patients requirements are met and all staff contribute fully to achieving the Trust's corporate goals and objectives.

Person specification:

• Registered Nurse (1st Level) - Diploma.
• Teaching & assessing qualification.
• Chemotherapy training.
• Leadership course.
• Degree/working towards.

Skills and experience:

• Teaching within clinical area.
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Experience of regularly managing a clinical area and clinical team.
• Experience of clinical audit and research.
• Experience of change management.

Personal qualities:

• Ability to set & establish priorities.
• Ability to produce and manage an effective staff rota.

By registering for the update service you will not have the additional cost of repeated disclosures. Should you withdraw your application, you may be required to reimburse the cost of the DBS check. DBS checks remain free of charge for volunteer positions.
