Blackpool Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is situated on the west coast of Lancashire, with services covering the local authority areas of Blackpool, Fylde and Wyre. The Trust is part of the Lancashire and South Cumbria Integrated Care System (ICS) supporting a population of around 1.6 million people. We have three main hospitals providing acute services to around 330,000 local residents.
Exciting opportunity for a receptionist band 2 role in the Haematology and Oncology Day Unit to work within the NHS. There is no sponsorship for this role. Interviews will be at Blackpool (face to face). Please apply early as this vacancy may close early due to volume of applicants.
The role will be covering administrative and clerical duties, including evenings (6pm finishing shifts), pulling case notes from across the Trust, to support an extremely busy unit. You will require to support the unit regarding any administrative tasks related to the high flow of daily patients attending the service. You will require to be passionate about your role, kind towards patients and having excellent customer service skills.
Main duties of the job:- You will require to be motivated, enthusiastic, to have excellent communication skills and work well within a team.
- The maintenance of patient confidentiality and excellent customer care skills are essential to this post.
- Duties will include the retrieval of Health Record Folders, updating patient’s details in their Health Record Folder and on the Trust’s PAS system, and Reception duties, to include preparation of case notes for procedures and clinics, checking-in patients for procedures and day unit attendances.
- You will require to manage different systems online to be able to book all the required patients and to have excellent I.T. skills.
- Within the role you are required to locate and organise patient's notes for the needs of the service, as well as retrieving them to the service daily.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities:- To request patient case notes from across the Hospital and associated peripheral hospitals.
- Ensuring Health Record folders are traced to the location held on the hospital’s electronic PAS system.
- Prepare case notes for day unit.
- Reception duties to be covered in a polite and professional manner.
- Admit and process patient attendance.
- To add and amend administrative information regarding patients both on the HISS/EMIS system and within Health Record folder ensuring both the accuracy and completeness of the information required.
- Update the Hospital Information System to reflect the correct patient details.
- Ensure that all duties allocated are completed in a timely and satisfactory manner.
- Offer general support to the team.
- Liaise with, and work in harmony with, other areas of the Trust to promote patient experience.
- To adhere to the Medical Records Procedures.
- Answering the phone, taking messages and acting upon the messages for both out patient and day case attendances.
- Comply with the job description statement.
- Education of 3 GCSE’s grades A-C or equivalent.
- Experience within the NHS.
- The ability to communicate effectively in English.
- Computer literate with experience on Microsoft Office software.
- Experience and qualification to utilise PAS system and other hospital systems.
- Experience with tracing notes.
- Ability to set & establish priorities.
- Team Player.
- Excellent organisational skills.
