Do you want to be part of an innovative and dynamic Talking Therapies service? Are you an experienced BABCP registered Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (PWP) who is passionate about providing high quality evidence‑based psychological therapy to people with common mental health problems? The successful candidate will have completed a Talking Therapies (formerly IAPT) PWP course or an equivalent Post Graduate Certificate in Primary Mental Health Care, and have experience working in a Primary Care setting, preferably a Talking Therapies service. The candidate must also hold Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner registration with BABCP and be willing to undertake an approved NHSE Long Term Conditions Low Intensity training course if not already completed.

Main duties of the job:

  • Providing low‑intensity interventions to clients with mild to moderate common mental health problems.
  • Carrying out patient‑centred assessments to determine objectives for change, risk to self or others, and suitability for Talking Therapies.
  • Delivering step‑2 evidence‑based treatment interventions face‑to‑face, by telephone or video link.
  • Developing and delivering step‑2 group interventions when required.
  • Managing a caseload of clients across a range of community bases.
  • Engaging in regular clinical and case‑management supervision.
  • Adhering to agreed activity contact targets to minimise waiting times and maintain service accessibility.
  • Completing detailed clinical notes and data collection as per service requirements.
  • Utilising outcome measures in every clinical contact.
  • Participating in the planning and facilitation of groups as required by the service.

Person specification:

Qualifications:
  • Qualification from a Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Training Course (Post Graduate Certificate) or equivalent, such as a Graduate Mental Health Worker with relevant Primary Care experience.
  • Training in nursing, social work, occupational therapy, counselling, or psychology‑based therapy.
  • Undergraduate degree in psychology or another health‑related discipline.
  • Postgraduate degree in psychology or another health‑related discipline.
Experience / Knowledge:
  • Evidence of working with people who have experienced a mental health problem.
  • Experience of working in Primary Care Services, particularly a Talking Therapies service.
  • Experience working within a service that uses agreed clinical outcome targets.
  • Training (formal or through experience) in risk assessment within scope of practice.
  • Understanding of anxiety and depression presentations in Primary Care.
  • Knowledge of the impact of work on mental health.
  • Familiarity with medications used for anxiety, depression and other common mental health conditions.
  • Commitment to evidence‑based psychological therapies relevant to this post.
  • Experience of working in the local community.

Employment Details:

  • Contract: Permanent
  • Working hours: Full time – 37.5 hours per week (including 10% of hours outside 9‑5)
  • Salary: £32,073 – £39,043 per annum (pro rata)
