An opportunity has arisen for a highly qualified Sexual Health Nurse to apply for the role of Team Leader for Central and West Lancashire localities Sexual Health Services. This is a permanent post; hours will be the candidate’s current substantive hours, days and times will be negotiated with the successful candidate following interview. The successful applicant will work alongside another Team Leader in a job sharing role providing leadership across the 2 localities. The service is open 6 days a week Monday-Saturday. Clinics are run from sites across Central and West Lancashire.
Main duties of the job:
- The post holder will be responsible for the day-to-day operational management, delivery and development of the Sexual Health Nursing team.
- They will undertake nurse led clinics in Contraception and GUM.
Detailed job description and main responsibilities:
- Day to day management of the service
- Planning Service Delivery
- Management of Staff Attendance (Sickness / Annual Leave) and Performance Issues
- 1:1’s & appraisals for direct reports and ensure that there is a robust mechanism in place for the rest of the team.
- Support the management of the Sexual Health budget
- Management of incidents/ complaints
- Review and report against service KPI’s and Audits
- To provide clinical management of patients with contraceptive, genito-urinary or sexual health conditions whilst working autonomously but in collaboration with other health professionals.
Person specification:
- Education & Qualification:
- First level registered Nurse
- DCSRH, MW212 or equivalent contraceptive course
- Completed degree in relevant field and studying at masters level?
- Post registration certification in mentorship/teaching and assessing (EMB 998/997 or equivalent)
- Completed First Issue contraception course or equivalent
- Completion of specialist training for sub dermal contraceptive implant fitting and removal
- Experience & Knowledge:
- 5 years current experience in sexual health
- Ability to independently undertake male and female genital examinations and screening tests
- Experience of working with PGD’s
- Experience of working with young people
- Evidence of ongoing professional development
- Experience of line managing staff and clinical areas
- Evidence of participation in audit and research
- Experience of partner notification
- Skills and Ability:
- Ability to undertake comprehensive sexual, medical and family history at patient consultation
- Ability to plan episode of care for GUM or contraceptive patients including issuing medications according to PGDs
- Ability to undertake direct microscopy and venepuncture
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of clinical issues within sexual health
- Ability to act as a clinical mentor within the service
- Ability to provide formal training to the multidisciplinary team
