Overview
The Estates Shift Team is responsible for providing 24‑hour on‑site emergency cover and a comprehensive electrical and mechanical engineering, and building maintenance service, to the plant and equipment on the Blackpool Victoria Hospital Site. This will involve working with trade groups and contractors’ staff to provide a professional, efficient and cost‑effective maintenance, repair and installation service, which is responsive to the user’s needs and will involve the planning and organising of maintenance activities.
Responsibilities
- Provide 24‑hour emergency maintenance repair service for building fabric, electrical and mechanical engineering and electro‑medical services.
- Manage the Estates Shift Team shift schedule, monitor contractors, raise defect/new work jobs on CAFM, preview jobs and order spare parts.
- Inspect, test and commission plant and equipment, including steam raising plant, boilers, heating and domestic hot water (DHW) systems, air‑conditioning systems, BMS, LV systems, switch rooms and emergency generators.
- Attend any main power failures on site and ensure continuity of electrical supplies to critical and non‑critical units.
- Provide first‑line emergency response to all Estates functions and emergencies, liaise with the fire brigade and the chemical incident team and support the Trust Fire Team and Chemical Incident Team.
- Inspect and test the Hospital Emergency Standby Electricity Generator sets on a regular basis.
- Carry out special projects for management, including surveys, developing procedures and plant history records.
- Maintain door access hardware for the PAC system and keep stock control out of normal working hours.
- Undertake fault finding and testing of complex LV installations, critical systems and equipment and repair as required.
- Provide technical advice and assist in commissioning, problem‑solving and communicating technical knowledge to others.
