Blackpool is a town on the move. With bold regeneration plans reshaping our housing, economy, and public spaces, we are investing in a brighter future for everyone who lives, works, and visits our town. From multi-million-pound town centre developments to the creation of a multiversity, major residential regeneration, and cutting-edge business growth within the Blackpool Enterprise Zone - our vision for the future is ambitious, people-focused, and built around raising the standard of the environment across our communities.

The Environmental Protection team plays a vital role in this transformation, helping to ensure that all residents live in safe, clean, and environmentally sustainable neighbourhoods.

We are now seeking an experienced Environmental Protection Officer to join our dedicated Public Protection team. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real and lasting impact on environmental standards and contribute to the transformation of Blackpool’s communities.

  • Use your expertise in the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and related legislation to take appropriate action and deliver positive outcomes.
  • Carry out investigations, inspections, and enforcement activities to address issues affecting local environmental quality.
  • Engage with residents, businesses, and partners to encourage responsible behaviour and promote high environmental standards.

Role Requirements -

  • Proven experience within environmental protection or a related enforcement role.
  • Solid knowledge of the Environmental Protection Act 1990 and associated enforcement powers.
  • A strong team player who works collaboratively with colleagues and external partners.
  • A passionate, proactive individual committed to making a tangible difference to local communities.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Be part of a forward-thinking council with a clear and ambitious vision for the future.
  • Play a crucial role in improving quality of life for residents and shaping safer, cleaner neighbourhoods.
  • Work within a supportive, engaged team that values innovation, community impact, and professional development.

If you are motivated by the opportunity to protect the environment, support communities, and drive positive change, we would love to hear from you.
