Blackpool's eight libraries are at the heart of their communities and play a vital role promoting literacy, enabling digital access, supporting customers with enquiries and providing a safe and welcoming place for residents.

We are currently recruiting a Library Assistant to work at Library@TheGrange. This library is located in the busy @TheGrange Community Centre, which includes shops, a cafe and a community farm. In this role, you will help customers select books and find out information, support them with digital skills, lead activities for adults and children, and work with partner organisations.

About you:

  • You thrive on working in a customer focused environment.
  • You have a good working knowledge of ICT and ability to assist customers with digital services.
  • You enjoy working with a wide range of people and partner organisations.
  • You would enjoy getting involved in library activities and events for customers of all ages, including Baby Bounce & Rhyme, author visits and social groups.
  • You have an enthusiasm for books and reading.

This post could include Saturday working and you will be expected to work at any of the library sites in Blackpool where required within your working hours.

This post requires access to PSN (Public Services Network) services or networks and the successful post holder will be required to undertake a Basic Disclosure check of unspent convictions through Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS). This post is also subject to satisfactory references, medical clearance, evidence of any essential qualifications and proof of legal working in accordance with the Asylum and Immigration Act 1996.

The successful applicant will be required to work outside of a 7am to 8pm Monday to Friday work pattern and will receive an additional payment on top of the quoted salary as a result.
