An exciting new opportunity has arisen to join the Elections Team at Blackpool Council. In this career graded role you will be given all the training and development you require to progress in the position. Working in Elections places you at the heart of local democracy in a fast paced, interesting and unique area of work.
You will provide support for the electoral registration process, including preparation, publication and maintenance of the register of electors and advice to electors. You will be central to preparing for elections, referendums and polling reviews in Blackpool.
In this role you will bring a strong awareness of good customer service, excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to liaise with others from diverse backgrounds, including persons at a senior level and members of the public. You will also have an ability to handle restricted, confidential and high profile information and deal with confidential issues discreetly and tactfully.
Experience of working on your own initiative and responding independently to unanticipated problems/situations is essential and ideally you will have a keen eye for detail and an ability to work with precision. As this is a career graded post your appointed grade will be determined based on the level of experience you have. Following sufficient training and experience you will have the opportunity to progress to the higher grade if not immediately appointed to this level.
As a valued member of the team, you will benefit from flexible working arrangements, including a hybrid approach where service requirements allow.
For an informal discussion please contact Joanne Johnson, Electoral Services Manager, on 01253 477161.
