An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced and highly organised Direct Payments Case Worker to join the Adult Social Care team at Blackpool Council. Responsibilities
- Supporting and advising Direct Payment users on managing their care, recruitment, and employment of personal assistants.
- Monitoring financial records, auditing spend, and maintaining accurate data using Microsoft Excel and internal systems.
- Conducting home visits and liaising with families, social workers, and partner organisations.
- Promoting awareness of the Direct Payments service and contributing to its ongoing development.
- Ensuring compliance with statutory obligations, employment law, and local procedures.
About you
- We are looking for someone who is motivated, empathetic, and confident in handling both people and numbers. You’ll need to be well-organised, with excellent communication skills and the ability to manage a varied caseload independently. You will manage your own caseload and schedule visits, ensuring safe lone working practices.
- The role involves regular home visits, meetings, and data management.
- The post requires working directly with vulnerable adults, families, and external agencies, including occasional contact with challenging situations.
Requirements
- GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English.
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Experience of financial administration, auditing, or monitoring processes.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills.
- Confident communicating with service users, families, and professionals at all levels.
- Experience of working with confidential information.
- A commitment to personal development and keeping up to date with relevant legislation.
Desirable criteria
- Knowledge of Direct Payments and social care legislation (e.g. Care Act#####4).
- Understanding of employment law and payroll processes.
