Overview
We have an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional to join our compliance team as a Senior Technical Officer. Role: Senior Technical Officer (Gas and Water). Permanent. 37 hours per week. Scale PO 3 – 6 (£39,862 – £42,839 per annum).
The role involves ensuring compliance with gas and water safety regulations, overseeing servicing, maintenance, and installation work across both domestic and commercial properties, with a key focus on managing the Gas servicing programme, including all related certification and documentation.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage the annual gas servicing programme to ensure all mandatory deadlines are met.
- Collaborate with the Asset Compliance Officer, in-house teams and contractors to plan and execute boiler installations and upgrade projects, and oversee responsive repairs, empty homes and out-of-hours gas services.
- Manage gas-related contracts to ensure high-quality service delivery within budgetary controls.
- Implement an audit regime to monitor compliance and identify areas for improvement.
- Act as responsible person for legionella management: oversee contractor performance, ensure safety standards compliance, and manage all associated documentation.
- Manage the water treatment contract for the control of legionella bacteria, ensuring full statutory and legislative compliance.
- Provide day-to-day supervision of the Gas Technical Officer, ensuring high service standards and compliance with Gas Safety (Installation and Use) Regulations, Building Regulations, CDM Regulations, and other health and safety legislation.
- Provide technical advice to colleagues, contractors and tenants; respond to customer complaints and inquiries promptly.
- Chair progress meetings, manage certifications, and oversee the annual installation programme and budget.
Qualifications and experience
- Relevant domestic and commercial gas qualifications.
- WS1 Legionella Responsible Person certificate or willingness to attain within 6 months.
- Management or Supervisory Training Qualification desirable or willingness to obtain within 12 months.
- Excellent leadership and team management skills, with strong communication abilities to engage with colleagues, contractors and tenants.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle for work (desirable for travel within the Blackpool area).
- Any offer of appointment will be subject to satisfactory basic disclosure (DBS) clearance.
- Informal hybrid working arrangements available; services team currently work 3 days in the office (Mon, Wed, Fri) and 2 days from home.
