Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) is currently seeking a proactive and dependable Estates Operative to join our Estates team on a fixed term basis. This role is pivotal in maintaining the safety, security, and functionality of our College premises while delivering high‑quality support to staff, students, and visitors.

Your Responsibilities

  • Opening, locking, and setting alarm systems within the College buildings; act as a registered key‑holder and respond to call‑outs as part of a rota system.
  • Conduct regular patrols to ensure the safety of College premises, carry out minor repairs, and report defects as necessary.
  • Clear drains, unblock sinks, urinals, and WCs, and maintain building systems such as heating, alarms, emergency lighting, and security systems.
  • Assist with room re‑arrangements, moving furniture and equipment as required, and dispose of unwanted items.
  • Act as a Fire Warden, perform fire safety checks, and help maintain health, safety, and security procedures.
  • Clear pathways, entrances, and other external areas, especially during adverse weather conditions such as snow and ice.
  • Drive the College van, assist with cash in transit duties, enforce the College's traffic regulations, and provide reception cover when necessary.
