The Role

We are excited to announce an opportunity to join the Directorate for Students Team as a Higher Education Learning Mentor.

This role is crucial in supporting our Higher Education students and apprentices to achieve success by developing their academic study skills, building confidence, and enhancing progression.

You will be part of a dedicated team, providing tailored academic and personal support that enables learners to reach their full potential.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

  • Delivering proactive, innovative and accessible study skills support through one-to-one sessions, small group workshops, and online interventions.
  • Designing and delivering tailored academic skills programmes to meet individual learner needs, embedding inclusive practice at every stage.
  • Identifying and responding to academic barriers to student progress, working collaboratively with tutors and support staff to develop effective strategies for success.
  • Creating engaging learning resources and online materials to enhance independent study.
  • Monitoring student progress, keeping accurate records, and reporting on outcomes such as attendance, retention, achievement, and progression.
  • Signposting students to wellbeing, careers, and financial support services where appropriate, ensuring a holistic approach to learner success.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by evaluating the impact of support and sharing good practice with colleagues.
