The Role:

Blackpool and The Fylde College (B&FC) is seeking a committed and knowledgeable Health & Safety Business Partner to join our Estates team. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to a culture of safety and compliance across the College, supporting both staff and students while playing a pivotal role in implementing and maintaining health, safety, and environmental standards.

The Health & Safety Business Partner provides expert advice, guidance, and support to B&FC colleagues, students, and apprentices. The role helps ensure that all members of the B&FC community comply with relevant health and safety legislation and that the College’s health and safety policies and procedures are fully embedded across the organisation.

A key part of this role is acting as a ‘critical friend’ to curriculum and service areas—offering proactive, collaborative support and challenge to help them meet their health and safety responsibilities. No two days are the same in this busy, varied role, which is both interesting and highly rewarding.

Your Responsibilities Will Include:

As a key member of the Estates team, you will play a vital role in supporting and enhancing the College’s health and safety culture. Your main duties will include:

  • Acting as a critical friend to curriculum and service areas, providing expert health, safety, and environmental advice and support.
  • Carrying out health and safety reviews, including risk assessments, COSHH compliance, and policy implementation across all College campuses.
  • Supporting the effective management and development of risk assessments, emergency plans, training requirements, and incident investigations.
  • Liaising with external agencies and internal stakeholders to ensure statutory compliance and best practices are consistently applied.
  • Managing the delivery of Health & Safety training across a range of platforms and supporting the College’s environmental and sustainability goals.
