We are recruiting a Senior Quantity Surveyor (Senior QS) for a growing construction and groundworks business, offering a £95,000–£110,000 salary (depending on experience) + bonus scheme and car allowance.

Job description
As a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Lead, you will be responsible for the financial and commercial management of multiple construction projects, ensuring profitability, cost control, and contract compliance across the full project lifecycle.
This is a senior-level construction QS role with a strong focus on contract management, cost reporting, and stakeholder engagement, working closely with Project Managers, Finance, and Directors.
Key responsibilities
- Acting as the commercial lead across multiple projects
- Managing project profitability, cost control, and financial performance
- Overseeing applications for payment (AFP), valuations, and variations
- Maintaining variation trackers and ensuring all entitlements are captured
- Producing monthly CVR (Cost Value Reconciliation) reports
- Managing retentions, payments, and commercial deadlines
- Leading subcontractor procurement and contract management
- Ensuring contracts (NEC / JCT) are administered effectively
- Attending client meetings and site visits
- Building strong relationships with clients, contractors, and stakeholders
- Supporting and developing junior commercial staff
- Reporting weekly to senior leadership and finance teams

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Senior Quantity Surveyor / Commercial Manager
- Strong knowledge of NEC and JCT contracts
- Background in construction / groundworks (essential)
- RICS Accredited
- Experience managing project finances, CVRs, and variations
- Excellent commercial awareness and negotiation skills
- Ability to build strong client and stakeholder relationships
- Full UK driving licence
