We are seeking an experienced and commercially minded Senior Investment Analyst to support the acquisition, valuation, financing and management of renewable energy and infrastructure investments.
The role will play a key part in evaluating investment opportunities, maintaining portfolio valuations and providing detailed financial analysis to support investment decision-making.
The successful candidate will bring strong transaction and valuation experience, advanced financial modelling capabilities and a good understanding of renewable energy markets, project economics and financing structures.
They will work closely with Origination, Execution, Asset Management and external advisers to deliver high-quality analysis and support the successful management and growth of the portfolio.
Key Responsibilities
- Update and maintain portfolio asset valuations.
- Perform detailed scenario, sensitivity and risk analyses.
- Independently build, maintain and review complex financial models, including Discounted Cash Flow (DCF), project finance, asset valuation as well as repowering and refinancing models.
- Prepare valuation summaries and recommendations to support investment decision-making.
- Review assumptions and challenge inputs to ensure robust outputs.
- Own valuation and commercial analysis for assigned portfolio assets.
- Support the ongoing management and optimisation of renewable energy investments.
- Analyse loan covenant compliance, debt service coverage ratios (DSCR), financing structures, Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contracts, ease extensions as well as repowering opportunities.
- Monitor performance against investment case assumptions and identify value-enhancing opportunities.
- Investment & Transaction Support
- Support the execution of acquisitions, disposals, financings and refinancing transactions.
- Conduct financial and commercial analysis to support investment decisions.
- Coordinate assigned due diligence workstreams.
- Analyse third-party adviser reports including technical, financial, commercial, tax and legal due diligence.
- Work closely with Origination and Execution teams during live transactions.
- Databooks & Assumptions Management
- Own databook preparation and input assumptions for assigned assets.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across valuation and financial reporting processes.
- Validate internal and external data sources.
- Maintain robust records of key assumptions and methodologies.
- Investment Committee Support
- Draft financial analysis and relevant sections of investment papers.
- Prepare supporting schedules, sensitivity analysis and investment recommendations.
- Stakeholder Management
- Manage day-to-day interaction with advisers, consultants, lenders and counterparties.
- Collaborate effectively with internal stakeholders across Investments, Asset Management, Finance, Legal and Operations.
- Develop trusted working relationships to support transaction execution and portfolio management.
- Internal Advisory & Coordination
- Coordinate adviser deliverables relating to valuations and financial analysis.
- Provide guidance to internal stakeholders on model outputs and investment assumptions.
- Support decision-making through clear interpretation of financial and commercial analysis.
- Model Governance & Process Improvement
- Ensure financial model accuracy, quality control and version management.
- Maintain model documentation and audit trails.
- Identify opportunities to improve modelling standards, reporting processes and analytical frameworks.
- Promote best practice in financial analysis and model governance.
- Team Contribution
- Support and mentor junior analysts.
- Share technical knowledge and industry insights.
- Contribute to improving team processes, valuation methodologies and modelling standards.
- Foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
- Origination Support
- Conduct market research and sector analysis.
- Support the initial screening and assessment of potential investment opportunities.
- Monitor developments in renewable energy markets, financing conditions and regulatory frameworks.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 5 years' relevant professional experience within renewable energy investing, infrastructure investing, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, transaction services, valuation advisory or Big Four Deals Advisory.
- Demonstrable involvement in acquisitions, disposals, financings ad refinancings as well as valuation exercises.
- Advanced financial modelling skills with the ability to independently build and maintain DCF, project finance and asset valuation models.
- Strong understanding of Profit and Loss accounts, balance sheets, cash flow analysis, NPV and IRR methodologies, sensitivity and scenario analysis, debt sizing and structuring, DSCR calculations, financing structures, tax impacts on project economics and equity return metrics.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management capabilities.
- Practical renewable energy experience across one or more of solar. Wind or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Knowledge of UK power markets, energy pricing, PPA structures, renewable project economics.
- Experience presenting investment recommendations to senior stakeholders and investment committees.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other quantitative disciplines
- Part-qualified or working towards CFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or other relevant professional qualifications
