We are seeking an experienced Investment Manager to lead valuation, financial analysis, due diligence and transaction workstreams across a portfolio of renewable energy and infrastructure assets.

The successful candidate will combine strong financial and commercial expertise with a detailed understanding of renewable energy investment.

They will take ownership of investment analyses and recommendations, oversee valuation methodologies and assumptions, manage external advisers, and provide strategic input to senior stakeholders on investment opportunities and portfolio performance.

This role is a key step into management, with responsibility for coaching analysts, overseeing investment workstreams, and contributing to transaction execution and portfolio value creation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead valuation and commercial analysis for renewable energy and infrastructure portfolio assets.
  • Review and approve loan covenant compliance assessments, PPA analysis, commercial evaluations and asset performance reviews.
  • Provide insight and recommendations on portfolio optimisation opportunities.
  • Support senior management in assessing portfolio performance, risk exposure and value creation initiatives.
  • Identify and escalation material investment risks and opportunities.
  • Review, challenge and approve complex financial models and valuation outputs.
  • Take ownership of key valuation assumptions, financing structures and investment recommendations.
  • Assess and challenge modelling methodologies, sensitivities and scenario analyses.
  • Lead the preparation of investment cases, valuation summaries and transaction analyses.
  • Ensure robust and defensible conclusions are reached across all investment assessments.
  • Oversee model governance, quality assurance and version control processes.
  • Review the suite of investment, valuation and project finance models used by the team.
  • Drive improvements to modelling standards, documentation, controls and reporting.
  • Promote best practice in financial modelling and analysis across the investment function.
  • Review and approve investment assumptions and valuation inputs across the portfolio.
  • Ensure consistency in methodology and approach across asset valuations.
  • Challenge the quality, reliability and rationale of data sources and assumptions.
  • Maintain appropriate governance and oversight of asset databooks and reporting inputs.
  • Lead multiple due diligence workstreams during acquisitions, disposals, financings and refinancing transactions.
  • Coordinate and integrate findings from technical, legal, tax, commercial and financial advisers
  • Assess due diligence findings and determine implications for investment decisions.
  • Support transaction execution from initial appraisal through approval and completion.
  • Investment Committee & Decision Making
  • Prepare investment papers, valuation reviews and transaction recommendations.
  • Present investment analysis and recommendations to investment committees and decision-makers.
  • Contribute to strategic discussions regarding financing, valuation and portfolio management.
  • Provide clear recommendations supported by robust financial and commercial analysis.
  • Stakeholder Management
  • Manage relationships with advisers, vendors, lenders, technical consultants and internal stakeholders.
  • Act as a key point of contact during transactions and portfolio reviews.
  • Build effective relationships to support delivery of investment and portfolio objectives.
  • Internal Advisory & Cross-Functional Leadership
  • Provide guidance to senior management on valuation assumptions, risk assessments and commercial implications.
  • Lead collaboration between Investments, Asset Management, Finance, Legal and Operations teams.
  • Ensure stakeholders understand the financial and strategic implications of investment decisions.
  • Support strategic planning and decision-making with high-quality analysis and insight.
  • Review the work of analysts and senior analysts.
  • Delegate workstreams appropriately across the team.
  • Provide coaching, mentoring and technical development support.
  • Raise analytical, modelling and reporting standards across the investment team.
  • Foster a collaborative, high-performing and commercially focused team culture.
  • Origination Support
  • Support the development of relationships with developers, intermediaries and market participants.
  • Contribute to the assessment and screening of investment opportunities.
  • Participate in transaction sourcing activities where appropriate.
  • Assist with market analysis and strategic origination initiatives.

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 5 years' relevant professional experience within renewable energy investing, infrastructure investing, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, transaction services, valuations or Big Four Deals Advisory
  • Demonstrable experience leading significant components of acquisitions, disposals, financings, refinancings and valuation projects
  • Experience managing transaction or financing workstreams through initial appraisal, due diligence, investment approval, completion
  • Strong understanding of Profit and Loss Accounts (P&L), Cash Flow Analysis, Balance Sheets, Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Sensitivity Analysis, Debt sizing, Debt Service Coverage Ratio (DSCR), financing structures, tax impacts, equity returns
  • Strong analytical, commercial and problem-solving capability.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to influence stakeholders and manage competing priorities.
  • Experience preparing papers for investment committees and boards.
  • Experience managing advisory relationships.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy transaction markets and financing structures.
  • Exposure to institutional investment environments.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other quantitative disciplines.
  • Preferred
  • Professional qualification fully completed, such as CFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA
  • Equivalent investment, finance or accounting qualification
