We are seeking a highly motivated Investment Analyst to support the evaluation, management and optimisation of renewable energy and infrastructure investments.
The successful candidate will play a key role in financial modelling, valuation analysis, due diligence and portfolio management activities across a range of renewable energy assets, including solar, wind and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
This is an excellent opportunity for an analytical and commercially minded professional with experience in investment, project finance, corporate finance, transaction services or valuations to develop their career within a growing renewable energy investment platform.
Key Responsibilities
- Independently build, maintain and enhance discounted cash flow (DCF), project finance and valuation models.
- Prepare asset valuations using DCF and comparable company/transaction methodologies.
- Perform scenario, sensitivity and risk analysis to support investment decisions.
- Produce valuation summaries, presentations and financial reports for internal stakeholders.
- Own valuation and commercial analysis for assigned portfolio assets.
- Deliver detailed financial assessments including loan covenant compliance monitoring, Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) analysis, Operations and Maintenance (O&M) contract assessments and lease extension modelling as well as repowering and life-extension analysis.
- Monitor asset performance against investment assumptions and identify value enhancement opportunities.
- Investment & Transaction Support
- Support acquisitions, disposals, financings and refinancing activities.
- Coordinate assigned due diligence workstreams and review adviser reports.
- Assist with transaction execution activities and information requests.
- Work closely with Origination & Execution teams on live investment opportunities.
- Conduct market research and initial screening of prospective investments.
- Data Management & Assumptions
- Own databook preparation and financial input assumptions for assigned assets.
- Validate market, operational and financial data sources.
- Maintain clear documentation of assumptions and methodologies.
- Ensure consistency and quality across valuation models and reporting outputs.
- Investment Committee Support
- Draft financial analysis and valuation sections of investment papers.
- Present findings and recommendations to senior stakeholders.
- Support preparation of materials for investment committee meetings.
- Stakeholder Management
- Manage day-to-day relationships with external advisers, consultants and counterparties.
- Collaborate with internal teams including, but not limited to Asset Management, Finance, Legal and Operations.
- Provide financial and commercial insights to support strategic decision-making.
- Model Governance & Process Improvement
- Ensure financial model accuracy, version control and auditability.
- Maintain model documentation and best-practice standards.
- Recommend enhancements to modelling approaches and analytical processes.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of valuation and reporting frameworks.
- Team Contribution
- Support and mentor junior analysts where appropriate.
- Share knowledge and best practice within the investment team.
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-performance team culture.
Skills & Experience
- Minimum 3 years' relevant professional experience in one of the industries: renewable energy investment, infrastructure investment, Independent Power Producers (IPPs), project finance, investment banking, corporate finance, valuations, transaction services or Big Four Deals Advisory.
- Demonstrable involvement in acquisitions, disposals, financings, valuations or investment transactions.
- Strong financial modelling skills with the ability to independently build and maintain DCF models, project finance models and valuation models.
- Strong understanding of Profit & Loss statements, cash flow analysis, balance sheets, Net Present Value (NPV), Internal Rate of Return (IRR) as well as sensitivity analysis.
- Excellent analytical, numerical and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Practical knowledge of renewable energy sectors, including solar, wind or Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).
- Understanding of UK electricity market fundamentals.
- Experience preparing investment committee materials.
- Experience reviewing legal, technical, operational and commercial due diligence reports.
Essential Qualifications & Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent experience) in Finance, Economics, Accounting, Engineering, Mathematics, Physics or other quantitative disciplines
- Part-qualified or studying towards CFA, ACA, ACCA, CIMA or other relevant professional qualifications
