  • Assistant Investment Manager
  • Assistant Investment Manager to join our Property Investment team at Blackfinch Group.

The role performs a quasi‑analyst/manager function, acting as Investment Manager on smaller, less complex deals and as Analyst on larger, more complex deals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Begin to take full ownership of certain areas within Investment products.
  • Monitor current property loans and raise issues to senior management in good time.
  • Build positive relationships with borrowers, brokers, surveyors, legal advisors and others throughout the life cycle of the property loans.
  • Review and appraise new lending opportunities from borrowers and brokers, making recommendations on key questions/points before offering terms.
  • Work with the finance team in assessing performance of underlying investee companies and with the in‑house legal team on key issues for new deals.
  • Help create and implement new controls, processes and policies as the team grows.
  • Draft Heads of Terms, loan redemption statements, financial models and committee papers for review by Investment Manager.
  • Conduct site visits with monitoring surveyors and highlight key risks.
  • Act as a role model for Investment Analysts and Assistants and support their development.
  • Contribute to new business development activities performed by the team.
  • Ensure risk management procedures are correctly followed and kept up to date by self and junior team members.
  • Implement company lending processes and policies and challenge assumptions where necessary.
  • Manage administration of corporate client investments; prepare portfolio allocations, deal sheets and day‑to‑day client investment management.
  • Contribute to creation and reporting of management information on investment companies, analyzing loan book metrics and key commercial trends.
  • Conduct financial and commercial due diligence on prospective property transactions and advise managers on courses of action.
  • Be prepared to undertake any other duties commensurate with this level of position.

Essential Experience

  • Communication, written and interpersonal skills.

  • Demonstrable experience in highly analytical roles.
  • Astute attention to detail.

Desirable Experience

  • 3–5 years’ experience in Banking, Property or Asset Management in transactional roles.
  • Flair for negotiation, influencing and persuading.
  • Ability to articulate complex issues verbally and in writing.
  • Experience working in high‑performance teams and supporting colleagues proactively.
  • Commercial mindset and proactive approach to networking and growing contacts within Property lending sector.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

  • Hold a minimum 2:1 degree (or equivalent).
  • Working towards or holding a professional finance qualification (e. g., MRICS / ACA / CIMA / CAIA / CFA).
