Hybrid Contract - 2-3 days office based (Elkstone, Gloucestershire). Blackfinch has an opportunity for an Apprentice Data Analyst to join the Data team and build core skills across reporting, data quality, and process improvement. This role is designed to support high-volume BAU activity while developing practical experience across the wider data estate. The purpose of the role is to support the delivery of core reporting and data administration activities, learn how Blackfinch's data platform and business processes operate, and contribute to process optimisation and automation work under guidance.

Key responsibilities you will learn during the apprenticeship:

  • Support BAU query handling, recurring report administration, and routine MI production.
  • Assist with legacy report review, small fixes, and controlled report improvements.
  • Support data quality checks, issue logging, and resolution tracking.
  • Help document data processes, report logic, and operating notes to improve knowledge sharing.
  • Support process optimisation and automation initiatives, particularly where manual effort can be reduced.
  • Work collaboratively with Data team members and business stakeholders to understand reporting requirements and business processes.
  • Develop practical skills across Power BI, SQL, Microsoft Fabric, and related tooling as part of the apprenticeship programme.
  • Provide wider support to the team during peak BAU periods, change cycles, and improvement projects as required.

Skills & Experience:

  • Maths and English GCSEs are needed at grade C/4 or above, or a willingness to study both subjects at functional skills level 2 alongside the apprenticeship standard.
  • Strong interest in data, reporting, and technology, with a willingness to learn new tools and concepts.
  • Good attention to detail and a methodical approach to producing accurate work.
  • Comfortable working with structured tasks and escalating issues where appropriate.
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to organise and prioritise workload effectively with support.
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and confidence using core Microsoft Office tools.
  • Positive attitude, curiosity, and commitment to continuous learning.
  • Basic knowledge of SQL, Power BI or other reporting tools.
  • Exposure to data analysis, dashboards or reporting through study, projects or work experience.
  • Awareness of data quality, governance or documentation good practice.
  • Interest in process improvement, automation or digital tools.
  • Awareness of AI, ML or forecasting concepts in a data context.

Training & Development:

  • Completion of the Level 4 Data Analyst Apprenticeship through our selected Apprenticeship Provider.
  • In-house Statutory/Mandatory and Competency training on a regular basis.
