Blackfield Associates are supporting a global pharmaceutical manufacturing organisation to recruit for a Head of Technical to join the Technical department on a permanent basis, taking responsibility for the reliable, efficient and compliance operation of the Technical Department (Technical Manufacturing, Technical Packaging and Artwork).
Reporting to the Production Director, the position involves oversight of three groups and direct management of the three group leaders. The position also requires you to provide Subject Matter Expertise in Technology, ensuring a scientific approach is taken in the development and change management of packing materials, product formulation/manufacture/packaging and cleaning.
Key responsibilities include:
- Ensuring compliance to H&S procedures and GMP in areas of responsibility
- Being a key player in internal, customer and regulatory audits
- Ensuring required and continuing training of departmental personnel is carried out
- Conducting regular 1-1 meetings, coaching and review of development opportunities for direct reports
- Developing a departmental budget and headcount business plans
- Day-to-day coordination of the department, including performance management, KPIs and metrics management for project, initiatives and tasks
- Providing SME expertise in Packaging, Material Science and Product Formulation
- Working within the Operational Leadership Team to ensure a safe, compliant, efficient and cost effective production operation
Qualifications/Competencies:
- Demonstrable leadership and people management skills
- Experience within the pharmaceutical industry with applicable technical knowledge and good technical writing ability
- Project management and change management experience
- Clear understanding / familiarity of MHRA/EMA/FDA guidance
- Strong motivational, coaching and team development skills
- A strong influencer, who has a constant improvement mindset
