I am recruiting for a large European based medical device business, who are looking for a Field Service Engineer to join their UK team, looking after their Southern England clients.

As Field Service Engineer, you will:

  • Assist the customer with any technical issues by phone, with response time as defined within customer contract (typically one working hour)
  • Maintain inventory of parts and supplies
  • Install and repair scientific instrumentation manufactured by Luminex Corporation at customer locations within a multi-state geographic region.
  • Manage an expense account, service tools and spare parts inventories.
  • Attend customer site to troubleshoot and repair any reported equipment faults, with response-time as defined within customer contract (typically same-day or next-working-day).
  • Complete all preventative maintenance in accordance with defined schedules
  • Install any upgrades necessary to maintain Instrument performance, safety, and reliability in accordance with defined deadlines.
  • Document all service activity within business corporate service management application, and in accordance with defined standards and time frames.
  • Provide first level engineering support for installation and decommissioning of instruments.

To be considered as a Field Service Engineer, you will have:

  • Minimum 2 yearsโ€™ experience as field service engineer within a medical laboratory environment, or as medical laboratory technician having a demonstrable practical aptitude and interest in engineering.
  • Associate degree AS, AA, BS Electronics, or demonstrated equivalent โ€“ Minimum of a higher education certificate
  • Strong experience of complex electro-mechanical equipment gained in a highly regulated industry would be considered.
  • Electromechanical and fluidic systems experience.
  • Computer expertise, with a good knowledge of MS Windows (principally Windows 10)
  • Fault finding and solutions-based thinking.
  • Experience dealing with clinically trained customers in a clinical environment.
  • A full/ Clean driving license is essential.

Due to client sites, applicants MUST be based South of the Thames river.
