We are partnered with an immuno-oncology focused biotech in Oxford seeking to hire a Senior Scientist with expertise in Cancer Biology. This role requires a PhD in a relevant field. Prior industry experience is highly desirable and familiarity with bioinformatics is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Contribute to a collaborative, high-integrity biotech research environment with strong standards for documentation, reproducibility, and compliance.
- Support and help shape translational research strategy across early-stage discovery programmes in collaboration with a small multidisciplinary team.
- Design, execute, and optimise in vitro experimental systems including 2D and organoid-based models.
- Develop and refine assays for evaluating cell viability, cytotoxicity, and molecular readouts including sequencing-based methods.
- Troubleshoot technical and scientific challenges to ensure high-quality, decision-enabling data generation.
- Analyse, interpret, and present experimental results to guide project direction and progression.
- Maintain compliance with internal SOPs and regulatory requirements, including mandatory training.
Requirements
- Extensive experience handling human epithelial and cancer cells.
- Experience in culture and expansion of primary epithelial cells.
- Strong expertise in genetic manipulation of epithelial and cancer cells.
- Experience developing cellular assays for viability, proliferation, and cytotoxicity studies.
- Ability to design and perform qPCR, ELISA, and flow cytometry experiments.
- Experience in immunofluorescence staining and microscopy.
- Experience growing primary cancer cells in culture.
- Experience developing and maintaining organoid models is highly desirable.
- Prior experience with real-time imaging systems (e.g. Incucyte) and familiarity with RNA/DNA sequencing.
