An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Design Manager to join a leading international MEP engineering consultancy delivering major data centre and mission critical projects across the UK and Europe. This role offers the opportunity to work on technically complex, high-value developments within a fast-growing sector, supporting the delivery of innovative and sustainable engineering solutions for global clients.
The successful candidate will play a key role in leading multidisciplinary design activities, managing stakeholder relationships, and supporting the successful delivery of projects from pre-construction through to completion.
The Role
- Lead and coordinate multidisciplinary design teams across major data centre projects
- Manage the design delivery process from concept through to project completion
- Coordinate consultants, subcontractors, and internal engineering teams
- Ensure projects are delivered in line with programme, budget, quality, and technical requirements
- Maintain strong client-facing relationships and stakeholder engagement
- Monitor design progress and identify technical risks and coordination issues
- Chair design coordination and project meetings
- Ensure compliance with project procedures, QA standards, and industry regulations
- Collaborate closely with project delivery and commercial teams
- Support technical problem solving and design development activities
- Mentor and support junior team members
- Contribute to business development and the continued growth of the business
Requirements
- Degree qualified within Engineering, Building Services, Construction, or a related discipline
- Strong experience within an MEP consultancy, engineering consultancy, or mission critical environment
- Previous experience delivering data centre or complex infrastructure projects
- Proven experience managing multidisciplinary design teams on large-scale developments
- Strong understanding of project delivery, design coordination, and commercial management
- Excellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities within fast-paced project environments
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project coordination software
- Strong organisational and technical management capabilities
Desirable Experience
- Chartered status or working towards professional accreditation
- Experience working on large-scale or international mission critical projects
- Knowledge of BIM and digital engineering coordination tools
