We have an exciting opportunity for an MEP BIM Technician to join a forward-thinking and inclusive Building Engineering team based in Newcastle. With strong relationships established across the UK and Europe, the team is currently delivering a range of complex and high-profile projects, including hyperscale data centres and mission critical facilities.
A key focus is the delivery of technically demanding data centre projects, supported by innovative and high-quality BIM solutions. Based in Newcastle but working closely with teams across the UK and beyond, you will be part of a dynamic, multidisciplinary environment. You will also have the opportunity to further develop your expertise in BIM and digital engineering within a highly collaborative setting.
The Role:
- Reporting to the MEP BIM Manager and working closely with senior technicians, you will play a key role in delivering coordinated, data-rich BIM models across a variety of projects.
- Assisting in the setup and management of project models in line with defined BIM standards.
- Supporting the MEP team in producing high-quality 3D models and drawings, including mechanical pipework, ventilation, lighting, power, containment, and drainage systems.
- Taking responsibility for specific aspects of BIM delivery and drawing packages from concept through to completion.
- Proactively coordinating MEP services with architectural and structural teams, ensuring access, maintenance, and buildability considerations are fully integrated.
- Working across industry-standard platforms such as Revit, Navisworks, Revizto, ACC/Forma, BIM360, and BIMCollab.
- Mentoring apprentices and supporting team development within the BIM environment.
- Utilising Common Data Environments (CDEs) and collaboration tools to support efficient project delivery.
- Seeking and implementing practical digital solutions to enhance workflows and project outcomes.
- Supporting project delivery in accordance with ISO 19650 standards.
As part of the wider Building Engineering group, you will collaborate with senior technicians and team members to support continuous improvement and innovation in BIM delivery, particularly across complex data centre environments.
Qualifications:
- BTEC ONC / HNC in Building Services Engineering or equivalent BIM qualification.
- EngTech (or working towards).
Essential Skills & Experience:
- Experience within the building services industry (consultancy and/or contractor).
- Strong proficiency in Revit ME.
- Understanding of EIRs and BEPs, including interpretation and implementation.
- Experience using Navisworks and/or ACC for model reviews, clash detection, and coordination.
- Ability to produce drawings and models with minimal supervision, using engineering sketches as a basis.
- Solid understanding of MEP systems and coordination at design level.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines under pressure.
- Experience of working on Data Centre and/or mission critical facilities.
