Are you an experienced Principal Electrical Design Engineer looking for your next opportunity within a leading engineering consultancy? We are recruiting for a Principal Electrical Design Engineer to join a highly regarded Building Services team, delivering innovative and sustainable electrical designs across a range of high-profile projects including education, defence, government, infrastructure and commercial developments.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to take a leading role on complex projects, support junior engineers and contribute to the future of energy efficiency, decarbonisation and sustainable building design.

The Role

You will lead and deliver electrical building services designs from concept through to detailed design, working closely with clients, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.

  • Leading electrical building services designs including power, lighting, life safety, telecoms, security, lifts and lightning protection.
  • Producing electrical calculations, technical specifications, design reports and client presentations.
  • Using industry software including Amtech/ProDesign, Dialux/Relux, NBS, Excel and Revit.
  • Representing the business in client meetings and stakeholder discussions.
  • Undertaking site surveys, inspections and commissioning reviews.
  • Managing project delivery, budgets and technical outputs.
  • Supporting, mentoring and developing junior engineers.
  • Contributing to technical excellence and the continued growth of the team.

About You

We are looking for an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer with:

  • A degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering or a related discipline.
  • Strong experience within Building Services Engineering consultancy or contractor design.
  • Experience leading electrical design projects and working with multidisciplinary teams.
  • Knowledge of UK technical standards, regulations and design practices.
  • Chartered Engineer status or working towards CEng (IET, CIBSE or equivalent).
  • Excellent communication skills with confidence in client-facing environments.
  • An understanding of energy efficiency, decarbonisation and sustainable design strategies.
