As a Principal Mechanical Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in leading mechanical design delivery, providing technical oversight, and supporting the development of both projects and people. You will contribute to the successful execution of complex data centre schemes while helping drive quality, innovation, and best practice across the team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead mechanical design delivery across projects from concept through to completion
- Provide technical leadership and guidance to both senior and junior engineers
- Support the preparation and delivery of project objectives, ensuring high-quality outcomes
- Produce and review specifications, drawings, and contract documentation
- Ensure compliance with relevant codes, standards, and industry best practices
- Deliver mechanical building services design solutions across data centre and infrastructure projects
- Manage project scope, programme, and budget in line with change control processes
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to ensure coordinated delivery
About You:
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- Proven experience operating at Senior or Principal Engineer level
- Strong technical expertise across mechanical building services design
- Demonstrable experience in data centre or mission-critical projects (highly desirable)
- Broad understanding of complementary disciplines such as acoustics, fire engineering, and building modelling
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or working towards, with a recognised professional body (e.g. CIBSE)
- Proficiency in industry-standard software including AutoCAD, Revit, Navisworks, IES, Hevacomp, and CFD tools
- Strong leadership, communication, and coordination skills
- Results-driven with excellent problem-solving ability
