We are searching for the best education professionals. Wellesley Park Primary School in Wellington is home to 300 children, including Wellesley Park Explorers Nursery. Wellesley Park Primary School is seeking a committed, compassionate, and skilled Pastoral Support Lead, who will also provide key support as a Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) Assistant. This is a vital role at the heart of our school community, helping to ensure that every child feels safe, supported, and able to thrive.
Key Responsibilities - Pastoral Support- Provide first-response pastoral support to pupils.
- Work closely with families, including completing home visits.
- Support attendance by helping address persistent absence and punctuality concerns.
- Deliver SEMH (Social, Emotional & Mental Health) interventions and monitor pupil progress.
- Act as a key member of the safeguarding team.
- Assist the DSL in managing referrals, attending multi-agency meetings, and maintaining detailed safeguarding records.
- Support staff with safeguarding queries and promote effective safeguarding practice across the school.
- Contribute to policy updates, safeguarding monitoring, and staff training processes.
- Has experience working with children, families, or in a pastoral/safeguarding capacity.
- Communicates effectively, calmly, and with empathy.
- Understands child protection, safeguarding procedures, and attendance legislation.
- Can build strong, supportive relationships with pupils and families.
- Works proactively, independently, and as part of a team.
- Is resilient, organised, and committed to inclusive education.
- Holds a full driving licence and has access to a vehicle for home visits.

The post is for 20 hours per week, Monday to Friday, term time plus all inset days paid weeks. Grade 12 on the School Support Staff Pay Scale £14.82 to £16.62 per hour (£28,598 to £32,061 per annum FTE). Fixed Term Contract until 31st August 2027 in the first instance with a view to becoming permanent.
