We are seeking a highly motivated Security Officer to support our growing operations in Melbourne, focused on advanced mission autonomy and aircraft payload technologies. This role is critical to ensuring our people, facilities, and sensitive information remain secure while enabling rapid innovation in a dynamic, high‑growth environment. You will work at the intersection of defense, technology, and compliance, helping the organization meet DISP obligations while building scalable, practical security processes that support engineering and operational teams.
What you'll do:
- Lead and support compliance with DISP, PSPF, and ISM requirements across the organization.
- Manage personnel security, including clearance tracking, onboarding, and ongoing compliance.
- Oversee physical and facility security controls, including secure areas and asset protection.
- Implement and enforce information security handling practices for sensitive and classified material.
- Conduct security risk assessments and develop mitigation strategies aligned to business operations.
- Maintain security documentation, including security plans, SOPs, and risk registers.
- Prepare for and support Defence audits, inspections, and reporting requirements.
- Deliver security awareness training and guidance to technical and non‑technical teams.
- Partner closely with engineering, operations, and leadership to embed security into workflows without slowing delivery.
Required qualifications:
- NV1 (Negative Vetting Level 1) security clearance.
- Australian citizenship (mandatory for clearance eligibility).
- 5+ years’ experience in security, defence, government, or regulated environments.
- Working knowledge of DISP, PSPF, and ISM requirements.
Preferred qualifications:
- Certificate IV or Diploma in Security & Risk Management, Government Security, or similar.
- Background in Defence, military, law enforcement, or intelligence sectors.
- Bachelor’s degree in Security, Criminology, Cybersecurity, or related field (desirable).
Full‑time regular employee offer package: Pay within range listed + Bonus + Benefits + Equity.
Temporary employee offer package: Pay within range listed above + temporary benefits package (applicable after 60 days of employment).
Salary compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, licences and certifications, and specific work location. All offers are contingent on a cleared background and possible reference check. Military fellows and part‑time employees are not eligible for benefits.
