Senior/Environmental Health Officer – Business compliance (Food safety, health and safety)

Full time, Permanent, 37 hours per week

Grade G (EHO) – £34,314-£37,938 or H (SEHO) £38,626 – £42,708 – the successful applicant will be placed on the grade commensurate with experience.

Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council is a busy unitary authority in east Lancashire. Blackburn and Darwen are vibrant towns surrounded by beautiful countryside and within easy reach of Manchester, Leeds, Liverpool and Preston, the Yorkshire Dales and the Lake District.

The Council has been a unitary authority for over 25 years and has a multi-disciplinary Public Protection and Environmental Health Service (EH, Licensing and Trading Standards) which is known for its can-do attitude and problem-solving approach to enforcement.

We have an exciting opportunity to work in our Business Compliance Team. The Team deals with food safety and standards, infectious disease control, health and safety at work compliance, safety at the local stadium and works closely with public health colleagues on a healthy catering award.

The ideal candidate will have experience of food safety compliance work, but we are willing to consider applications from candidates who are newly qualified as Environmental Health Officers. You must have excellent communication skills, be self-motivated to work alone but also be a team player. In return we can offer a friendly working environment and our commitment to a great work-life balance. Annual leave of 26 days per year (31 days after 5 years service) plus bank holidays.
