Blackburn with Darwen Borough Council are looking for a Refuse/Recycling Team Leader to be part of our team providing waste and recycling services across the Borough. As a Refuse/Recycling Team Leader, you will be an advocate of the Council with a strong ethos to promote and encourage residents to recycle more and recycle correctly in order to achieve this target together.
It is an essential requirement of this role that you have a Class 2 HGV driving licence, a valid CPC Driver Qualification card along with a valid TACHO card. You will be responsible for collecting all types of environmental waste including household waste, recycling, food waste and garden waste from domestic and commercial properties, ensuring our borough is a clean and safe environment for all to enjoy.
Your main duties will include driving the collection vehicle, ensuring the safety of your team whilst they collect, empty and return wheelie bins to their collection point. Reporting all issues to Management via the Incab devices, assisting the loaders when not driving and assisting other teams where necessary.
To succeed as Refuse/Recycling Team Leader you will be customer focused, building good working relationships with colleagues and customers. You will have a strong understanding of health and safety practices and be a responsible leader of the team. The candidate should have the ability to communicate with members of the public in a polite, professional, and friendly manner, and be able to adapt when required.
The hours are 37 hours per week, 07:00 to 16:45 Monday to Saturday. Your standard working pattern will be 4 x 9.25 hour days between Monday to Saturday, with no more than 1 Saturday working per month. Full PPE clothing and equipment will be provided to complete issued tasks. All relevant training will be provided in accordance to health and safety regulations, and a safe system of work for each issued task.
