We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SEN Officer to join our team and play a vital role in undertaking statutory work relating to the production and maintenance of Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs) for children/young people aged 0-25 with severe and complex Special Educational Needs (SEN). This role involves working closely with children, parents/carers, education, social care and health professionals to ensure educational needs are met.
Responsibilities:
- Manage statutory SEN processes for an allocated caseload, including statutory assessment, the production of EHC Plans, and Annual Reviews relating to EHC Plans.
- Manage complex and challenging casework relating to all matters arising with the provision and placement for children/young people with EHCPs.
- Support the Local Authority (LA) in the implementation of SEN legislation, including the improvement and quality of EHCPs and the development of the local offer.
- Provide advice and guidance to schools/colleges about their duties under the Children and Families Act 2014, the SEND Code of Practice 2015, and SEN funding.
- Ensure that the LA fulfils its statutory duties in relation to children and young people with EHCPs.
- Manage the statutory assessment and annual review processes for an allocated caseload, including the production of high-quality EHCPs.
- Represent the LA at Annual Reviews to ensure compliance with statutory processes, to ensure children/young people are making good progress, and to support matters relating to complex and challenging casework.
- Support casework around Tribunals.
- Develop positive working relationships with colleagues across the council and partner agencies to ensure the appropriate support and placements are secured for children/young people.
