We are looking to recruit an experienced and enthusiastic Functional Skills Maths Tutor to support delivery across Blackburn with Darwen.
About the Role
We are specifically seeking a tutor with excellent subject knowledge and a proven track record of delivering Functional Skills Maths to adult learners, helping them to develop confidence, achieve qualifications and progress into further learning, employment or apprenticeships.
Responsibilities
- Design and deliver engaging, innovative and inclusive teaching and learning.
- Motivate, support and challenge learners to achieve their full potential.
- Deliver Functional Skills Maths from Entry Level through to Level 2.
- Assess learner progress effectively and provide constructive feedback.
- Adapt teaching approaches to meet a range of learner needs and abilities.
- Support learners to develop their confidence, employability and everyday maths skills.
- Deliver ICT/Digital Skills courses where required (desirable).
Qualifications
- Experience of delivering Functional Skills Maths.
- A recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong classroom management and learner engagement skills.
- Experience of teaching adult learners.
- Commitment to high-quality teaching, learning and assessment.
- Required Skills
- Experience of working within adult and community learning.
• A good understanding of quality assurance processes, including
- Observations of Teaching, Learning and Assessment (OTLAs).
- Recognising and Recording Progress and Achievement (RARPA).
- Learner assessment, tracking and target setting.
- A good understanding of Ofsted's Further Education and Skills (FE&S) inspection framework and quality requirements.
- Preferred Skills
- Experience of delivering ICT/Digital Skills qualifications or non-accredited courses would be beneficial.
