Location: West Horndon, Essex (office-based with regular site visits - typically 1-2 per week, project dependent)

Salary: £30,000 - £40,000 per annum DOE

Job Type: Full time, Permanent

Hours: 7:00am-4:00pm (Mon-Fri)

About Us: We're an architectural metalwork and structural steel business delivering design, manufacture and installation across London, Essex and the South East. Our work includes staircases, balustrades, railings, gates, balconies, structural steel and bespoke fabrications. We also run a Surveying & Design capability, including point-cloud / laser scanning workflows to improve accuracy and coordination. If you've not worked with point-clouds before, we'll provide training.

About the role: We're looking for a capable Steel Draughtsman using Advance Steel to produce buildable models and drawings. This is a hands-on role that includes attending site to survey/measure, supporting coordination, and attending site meetings when required to close out technical details and keep programmes moving.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Model and detail steelwork in Advance Steel
  • Produce GA drawings, fabrication drawings, setting-out and schedules
  • Interpret architect/engineer information and convert it into clear, buildable details
  • Attend site to survey / measure / verify existing conditions and capture information for detailing
  • Attend site meetings (as required) to coordinate interfaces, resolve technical queries and agree actions
  • Liaise with clients, engineers and stakeholders to close out RFIs and technical issues quickly
  • Coordinate with the workshop team to ensure drawings are practical for fabrication and installation
  • Maintain drawing revisions and issue information in a controlled, organised way
  • Opportunity to work with point-cloud / scan-to-model workflows (training provided)

What We're Looking For:

Essential:

  • 2+ years draughting/detailing experience using Advance Steel
  • Solid understanding of architectural metalwork structural steel and structural steel detailing
  • Confident communicator (workshop/site teams, clients and engineers)
  • High attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines
  • UK work authorisation
  • Able to reliably commute to West Horndon

Strongly Preferred:

  • Comfortable attending sites across London/Essex for surveys and meetings
  • Full UK driving licence (or able to travel to sites reliably)

Desirable:

  • AutoCAD experience
  • Experience detailing stairs/balustrades/architectural packages
  • Point-cloud / laser scanning experience (not essential - training provided)
