JOB DESCRIPTION
| Overall Purpose and Scope of the Job |
To act as the senior point of operational delivery within the Hygiene team, supporting the Hygiene Team Leader in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness, food safety and health and safety across the CPU site. To lead by example on the floor, deputise for the Team Leader when required, and ensure the smooth day-to-day running of hygiene operations.

β’ Ensure all areas of the CPU are clean, safe and compliant with food safety standards at all times.
β’ Support and deputise for the Hygiene Team Leader in the day-to-day supervision of the Hygiene team.
β’ Maintain consistent delivery of the daily and weekly cleaning schedule, leading by example.
| Key Responsibilities and Activities |
Cleanliness
β’ Ensure all washing and cleaning duties are completed to schedule and to the required standards.
β’ Wash all mixing bowls, trays and small equipment; stack and store correctly after cleaning.
β’ Ensure all dough containers are jet washed correctly.
β’ Clean walls, doors and floors in all communal areas daily as directed.
β’ Clean and maintain the canteen, toilets and staff changing areas daily.
β’ Clean loading bays and the cooling room, ensuring no debris remains.
β’ Remove all waste and store tidily in the designated area.
β’ Clean fridges and heavy equipment as required.
β’ Ensure all storage areas, shelving and refill containers are kept clean, tidy and organised.
β’ Carry out or oversee weekly deep cleans of designated areas.
Supervision & Team Support
β’ Act as the senior team member on the floor, providing direction and support to Hygiene Team Members.
β’ Deputise for the Hygiene Team Leader in their absence, taking responsibility for team allocation and task prioritisation.
β’ Support the on-the-job training of new Hygiene Team Members.
β’ Monitor the progress and standard of work of team members and address issues promptly.
β’ Contribute to a positive, motivated team culture with energy, professionalism and a can-do attitude.
Chemical Safety
β’ Use cleaning chemicals safely in compliance with COSHH regulations at all times.
β’ Support the Hygiene Team Leader in conducting weekly chemical store inventory checks.
β’ Assist with chemical ordering and ensure adequate stock levels are maintained.
β’ Support team members in the safe and correct use of chemicals and cleaning equipment.
Equipment Safety, Cleanliness & Maintenance
β’ Ensure all cleaning equipment is maintained in a clean and safe working condition.
β’ Report faulty equipment and machinery to the Hygiene Team Leader or Head of CPU promptly.
β’ Support team training on the safe use of equipment.
Goods In
β’ Receive deliveries arriving at the bakery and verify delivery notes against goods received.
β’ Report any delivery shortages or discrepancies to the Hygiene Team Leader or management.
β’ Train and support team members in the Goods In process.
Administration & Compliance
β’ Ensure cleaning records and logs are accurately completed and kept up to date in line with food safety and H&S requirements.
β’ Support pest control monitoring; ensure pest control devices are not moved and areas are kept clear.
β’ Comply with all relevant food hygiene and health and safety legislation.
Health & Safety Duties
β’ Wear company uniform and PPE and maintain the highest standards of personal hygiene at all times.
β’ Work cleanly, safely and hygienically at all times and ensure the team does the same.
β’ Ensure self and team compliance with all health and safety and food hygiene legislation.
β’ Report all faulty equipment and machinery to the Hygiene Team Leader or Technical Manager.

β’ Compact cardboard and store correctly for collection.
β’ Carry out any other tasks as reasonably requested by the Hygiene Team Leader or Head of CPU.
| Skill and Technical Requirements |
β’ Previous experience in a food production, catering or commercial kitchen environment β essential.
β’ Good working knowledge of food safety and health and safety regulations and standards.
β’ Understands COSHH and has used cleaning chemicals and equipment in a professional setting.
β’ Prior supervisory or senior team member experience desirable.
β’ High level of attention to detail and ability to work in a logical, methodical way.
