The Data & Systems Modernization (DSM) Program was launched in April 2025 as a strategic initiative to build a unified, company-wide data and systems framework across ABB. Building on the foundations of the Finance Transformation Program (FTP) and the HR Transformation Program (HRTP), DSM aims to simplify our complex systems landscape, harmonize relevant non-finance master data, and establish a common ERP roadmap for the whole company.
The DSM Global Indirect Tax Technology Manager is a specialist role within the DSM program, forming part of the Indirect Tax Practice Team. The role acts as the single global design authority for indirect tax within enterprise platforms and Business-led transformation programs, ensuring that indirect tax is built in once and built right across the full business lifecycle.
The position partners closely with business areas, finance, IT, transformation programs (DSM and BA initiatives), and external providers to define, standardize, and govern indirect tax determination, controls, and reporting in core systems. The objective is to reduce complexity, risk, and cost while enabling scalable, future ready compliance.
This role is based in Europe and reports to the Global Indirect Tax Practice Lead.
Your Responsibilities:

- Define and own a standard global indirect tax model covering tax codes, tax triggers, determination logic, and data dependencies.
- Own global indirect tax determination for AR, AP, and Intercompany processes.
- Ensure indirect tax is embedded end to end across the business lifecycle: master data, procurement, order management, delivery, billing, and reporting.
- Enable centralized indirect tax decision making, reducing local deviations, rework, and project delays.
- Partner with IS and transformation teams to design scalable, future proof solutions aligned with regulatory change (e.g. e invoicing, digital reporting).
- Leverage core system capabilities (e.g. SAP DRC, CFIN) to ensure consistency and reuse, avoiding bespoke solutions.
- Improve first-time-right outcomes to reduce audit, compliance and operational risk.
- Serve as the single global point of contact for indirect tax technology across projects and operations.
- Enable business growth through automated, compliant and efficient indirect tax processes.
Your Experiences:
- Significant experience in indirect tax technology, ERP tax determination ERP-enabled tax transformations, or indirect tax process design, gained in house and/or in a professional services environment.
- Typically, 10+ years of progressively responsible experience in tax, including substantial ownership of tax technology, ERP implementations or global transformation initiatives.
- Solid understanding of indirect tax across business processes, not limited to reporting.
- Demonstrated experience working with global ERP platforms (e.g. SAP S/4 HANA) and tax related system design.
- Ability to translate complex tax requirements into scalable system solutions and standards.
- Experience working in global, multi stakeholder transformation environments.
- Advanced analytical, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
- Skilled in clear communication and stakeholder coordination.
Desirable Experiences:
- Experience with digital reporting and e invoicing frameworks (e.g. EU VAT reforms).
- Exposure to large scale finance or ERP transformation programs.
- Familiarity with SAP tax and reporting tools (e.g. SAP DRC, CFIN).
