Job Description: Contentious Probate Solicitor

Location: Remote (UK-based)
Salary: £45-60k (DOE) + Benefits
Contract: Full-time, Permanent

With continued growth in its private client division, the firm is now seeking a talented Contentious Probate Solicitor to join the team on a fully remote basis. You’ll be joining an established practice with a strong national client base and genuine career progression opportunities.

The Role

You’ll manage a diverse caseload of contentious probate and trust matters, working closely with senior lawyers and partners on complex, high-value disputes.

Key areas of work include:

  • Contested wills and inheritance disputes

  • Claims under the Inheritance (Provision for Family and Dependants) Act 1975

  • Executor, trustee, and beneficiary disputes

  • Challenges based on undue influence or lack of capacity

  • Disputes involving estate administration, trusts, and proprietary estoppel

You will have the autonomy to handle your own cases from instruction to resolution, supported by a friendly and highly experienced remote team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on all aspects of contentious probate and estate disputes

  • Manage a varied caseload efficiently and proactively

  • Draft legal documents, pleadings, and correspondence

  • Represent clients in mediations, negotiations, and court proceedings

  • Contribute to business development initiatives and thought leadership in this growing practice area

  • Uphold the firm’s high professional and ethical standards in all client dealings

About You

We’re looking for a solicitor who is:

  • 3+ years PQE (flexible depending on experience)

  • Experienced in contentious probate and/or trust litigation

  • Skilled in client relationship management and dispute resolution

  • Confident working independently and collaboratively in a remote team

  • Technically strong, with excellent communication and drafting skills

  • Motivated by autonomy, flexibility, and professional growth

STEP or ACTAPS membership (or a willingness to work toward it) would be an advantage but is not essential.
