This role places you at the heart of hyperscale and colocation data‑centre development - projects that demand robust structural integrity, technical excellence and the ability to design for heavy plant, high loads and demanding performance criteria.

As a Principal Structural Engineer, you will take a defining role in delivering resilient, high‑performance facilities that support global cloud providers, AI platforms, high‑density compute and large‑scale digital operations. Your work will define the structural performance of high‑load, heavy‑density environments.
  • Strategic Client Partnership - Provide senior technical guidance, design assurance and strategic planning to UK data‑centre clients and global technology operators. You’ll deliver structural solutions that balance robustness, buildability, cost efficiency and long‑term sustainability.
  • Technical Depth & Innovation - Oversee detailed structural design packages including steel and reinforced‑concrete frames, foundations, lateral stability systems, dynamic plant loads, vibration performance and heavy‑duty equipment support structures. Ensure compliance with UK Building Regulations, BS/EN/Eurocodes and local authority requirements.
  • Cross‑Disciplinary Collaboration - Work closely with civil, mechanical, electrical, architectural and BIM specialists to deliver fully integrated engineering solutions aligned with the demands of mission‑critical facilities.
  • Talent Development & Team Leadership - Mentor engineers, develop future leaders and help drive a culture of excellence, innovation and collaboration within our UK structural engineering teams.

Strong structural engineering experience in the UK, ideally in mission‑critical, industrial, commercial or high‑load environments. Expertise in RC and steel design, dynamic analysis, heavy plant loading, foundations and complex structural systems. Excellent knowledge of UK Building Regulations, BS/EN/Eurocodes and UK planning/approval pathways. Strong proficiency with structural analysis tools such as ETABS, Robot, Tekla, RFEM, SCIA, Revit and related modelling platforms. Proven ability to lead large structural engineering packages and multidisciplinary teams. Excellent communication skills and confidence engaging with clients and approving bodies.
