About the Role
Black & White Engineering (B&W) is a leading MEP design consultancy launched in the UAE in 2007 and became an independent company in 2014. Today we operate as a global consultancy with offices in Europe, the Middle East, Asia, and Australia. Our engineering expertise spans all sectors of the construction industry, providing pragmatic and practical design solutions that ensure projects are spatially and operationally efficient. Our design process fully considers installation and maintenance practicalities on site. Due to our continued growth, we are recruiting a Site Engineer. This client-facing role works closely with our design team, ensuring MEP installations are carried out in accordance with our designs and specifications on Europe and UK sites, and also includes office-based work in our Manchester office reviewing designs prior to site execution.

Responsibilities
- Undertakes site inspections, benchmarking, witnessing, and handover of MEP systems.
- Compiles and reviews specifications, drawings and relevant contract documents, maintaining the required standard and quality of work, ensuring installations comply with relevant codes, standards, regulations and procedures.
- Coordinates detailed reports and management of all activities in coordination with our document control teams.
- Identifies scope and schedule changes in accordance with the change control process, maintaining planning and cost control on all scope.
- Ensures, as far as is practically possible, that all assigned work is carried out in compliance with the agreed budget and schedule.
- Provides solutions-based management of site issues without unnecessary conflict.
- Researches and reviews compliance of designs with local regulations and working practices.
- Identifies scope gaps in the delivery of Building Services Engineering design to buildings and infrastructure in collaboration with the design team, working within the parameters given.
- Contributes to the development and growth of the company by identifying new opportunities and potential areas for growth together with maintaining and developing existing client relationships.
Qualifications
- Technical knowledge in primary discipline and a good understanding of Building Services Engineering and interdisciplinary design through all stages of the design process.
- Has a relevant degree in Electrical or Mechanical Building Services Engineering, or equivalent qualification or sufficient suitable experience with a minimum of 2 years post qualification experience.
- Good communication skills, especially when working in multi-language sites in Europe where English will not be the primary language.
- Sound knowledge and extensive experience in site practices and procedures through submittal review periods, site inspection and installation, testing and commissioning, as-built reviews, O&M manuals, and defects and liability periods.
- Up-to-date knowledge in technical developments, national and international standards, and legislative requirements related to the discipline.
- Sound knowledge of health and safety management.
- Results-oriented approach with strong problem-solving, technical realisation and coordination skills.
- Project management experience, ability to manage a team of engineers and inspectors on larger projects.
- Associate or student member of an appropriate professional body such as CIBSE, IET, MinstMC, MIHEEM.
- Appreciation of complementary specialisms such as acoustics, fire engineering and computer modelling in the design of buildings.
- Good interpersonal communication and presentation skills, both verbal and written.
- Computer literacy which includes good knowledge of Microsoft Office, Bluebeam, document control platforms such as Aconex or Asite, AutoCAD/Navisworks, snagging software such as FieldView or Snagmaster.
- Current UK driving licence.
