Job Summary

Black & Veatch\’s Technology, Commercial and Industrial team is dedicated to meeting the fast-evolving infrastructure demands of the mission-critical sector, including the generation, storage, transmission, and distribution of secure and dependable electrical power.

Our Europe, Middle East, and Africa (EMEA) region provides clients with feasibility studies through to full-scale EPC projects.

The Opportunity

This role involves working closely with the service solutions lead and electrical engineering lead, being an integral part of the mechanical engineering group, with a focus on Data Centre infrastructure projects. It offers strong collaboration with global teams and opportunities for growth in the EMEA region.

Location: central Glasgow or London, UK . Hybrid schedule: 3 days in office, 2 days remote.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead detailed design efforts for large-scale HVAC and plumbing systems.
• Provide expertise in Data Centre/Mission Critical/HVAC/plumbing design.
• Guide on design risk factors for redundancy and resiliency.
• Conduct field surveys and develop reports.
• Review technical drawings to ensure standards and requirements are met.
• Perform detailed calculations and coordinate with clients.

Profile & Qualifications

Ideal candidates will have expertise in Data Centres or a background in building services and HVAC engineering, with strong mechanical engineering experience and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications

• Familiarity with BS EN 50600, ANSI/ASHRAE Standard 90.4, and UK codes.
• Experience with construction support, CDM regulations, and design risk factors.
• Understanding of hyper-scale, edge, and colocation data centres.
• Proficiency in 3D modelling, AutoCAD/Revit/BIM, and engineering software.
• Knowledge of Data Centre tier rating systems and equipment installation/commissioning.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or CIBSE membership.
• 8+ years of UK Mechanical MEP experience, including Data Centre or Mission Critical facilities.
