Due to continued growth, Black & Veatch is looking to add an Engineering Manager with an electrical background, design and engineering experience to our EMEA team. The role will primarily involve coordinating and managing projects related to Grid, Substation, and the Balance of Plant for BESS projects, across Medium and High Voltage projects.
As the Sr. Project Engineering Manager you’ll manage execution of the engineering components of multiple projects throughout the EMEA region, focused on Grid, Substation and BESS projects of varying size and complexity. You will have the opportunity to:
- Lead a multi-discipline team of engineers and technicians on projects.
- Supervise and mentor engineering staff, identifying developmental growth opportunities.
- Manage budgets, scheduling, and correspondence with clients and project management in support of proposals and projects.
This role is based in our Glasgow, UK office with some travel to project sites, client or other B&V offices. We work a hybrid schedule of 3 days in the office/on site, 2 days remote working from home per week.
Key Responsibilities
- Responsible for the supervision of project budget, schedule, technical output and performance of the engineering staff on projects of medium to high complexity.
- With minimal oversight from a Project Manager, interfaces directly with the Client on all technical aspects of the project including the management of change associated with the project work scope, contract terms or any subcontract contracts.
- Supporting business development of proposals, identifying client drivers.
- Provide technical guidance and direction on department design guides, standards, systems, applicable engineering codes and BV policies.
- Assists in developing, maintaining and updating engineering standards.
- Coordinate with all other internal/external team members on complex projects.
- Defining project schedules.
- Actively manage project changes directly with the Client with supervision from the Project Manager.
- Typically oversees performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development, and corrective actions.
Management Responsibilities
- Acts as a project manager. Among responsibilities is management of a project team. The individual comprising this team may vary by project.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering.
- Substantial relevant work experience – typically suited to professionals bringing 10+ years of experience.
- Full professional proficiency in written and spoken English.

Preferred Qualifications
- Advanced knowledge of engineering design principles and applicable design guides and standards related to electrical engineering - Medium and High Voltage networks.
- Intermediate knowledge of other engineering disciplines.
- Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content.
- Intermediate knowledge of: construction & constructability practices & principles; procurement & contract administration; technical aspects of the proposal process; industry knowledge and technology trends.
- Working knowledge of process, procedures for project controls and estimating.
