Overview
In this role you will design mechanical and infrastructure systems to support nuclear power facilities, working within multidisciplinary teams on new builds, upgrades, and plant improvements. You’ll produce calculations, specs and design documents, ensuring safety, quality and regulatory compliance. The position involves close collaboration with clients, suppliers and engineers to solve practical infrastructure challenges. The opportunity combines hands-on design with mentorship and continuous improvement in a mission-driven, employee-owned environment.

Responsibilities
- Design mechanical systems and infrastructure for new and existing nuclear facilities
- Develop solutions for modifications and plant improvements
- Produce calculations, specifications, reports and design documentation
- Coordinate interfaces across mechanical, civil, structural, electrical, and I&C disciplines
- Collaborate with clients, project managers, designers, suppliers and engineering teams
- Ensure designs meet technical, safety, quality, and regulatory requirements
- Manage engineering activities within budgets, schedules, and quality expectations
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to less experienced engineers
- Contribute to design reviews, assurance activities and continuous improvement
- Support site surveys, plant assessments and client meetings
Key requirements
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering or another relevant engineering discipline
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards professional registration (preferred)
- Legal right to work in the UK
- Minimum 5 years relevant mechanical design/engineering experience (desirable)
- Experience with nuclear or safety-critical QA programs (desirable)
- Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and communicate technically in writing and speaking
- Experience preparing and reviewing technical engineering deliverables
- Ability to manage priorities and meet project schedules and quality requirements
