The Opportunity: Our work is focused on engineering design primarily for energy infrastructure projects, from feasibility studies and FEED through to Detailed Design and occasionally construction and commissioning. You’ll have the opportunity to work on renewable and sustainable energy projects, eg, Battery Energy Storage (BESS), as well as Data Centres and other solutions across our portfolio. You’ll be a key support to our regional electrical leader, managing a variety of tasks and taking the lead on multiple projects and deliverables including supporting proposals. This is a great opportunity for someone with a strong foundation in HV/MV electrical engineering, breadth of knowledge and a desire to achieve chartership and progress in their career. Flexibility, drive and willingness to learn will be key to success.
Key Responsibilities:
- Undertaking HV / MV engineering design activity and reviewing the work of others, including: power system analysis, substation design, cable route design, and protection system coordination, often for grid connection for renewable energy sites or power plants, and Balance-of-plant (BOP) for eg. BESS
- Supporting proposals (approx. 20% of time)
- Site activity including visits, audits and commissioning activity (approx. 10% of time)
- Typically, 1-2 detailed engineering projects, or multiple smaller and less complex projects will be managed with minimal supervision
Minimum Qualifications:
- BEng Electrical Engineering / Power Engineering
- Relevant UK work experience (typically around 5 years)
- Knowledge of UK Grid Code and British Standards
- High Voltage (HV) Engineering experience required, Medium Voltage (MV) desired
- UK driving licence
- Unrestricted Right to work in UK – we can’t offer visa sponsorship
- Can be based in Glasgow (preferred) or London with flexibility to travel within region up to 10% of time
All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (if selected) which may include any/all of the following: criminal/civil background check, drug screen, and motor vehicle records search, in compliance with any applicable laws and regulations.

- Chartered– Incorporated Engineer (IENG)
- Ideally have, or actively seeking to work towards
- Experience with DNO, renewables, utility sector
- Balance of Plant (BOP) experience, particularly for Battery Storage (BESS) and Data Centres
- Understanding of Power systems studies eg DIgSilent
- UK Grid Code compliance (G99, P28, P29)
- ENA and BSEN standards
- System protections
- DNO requirements and terminology, connections
