At Black & Veatch our work is focused on engineering design primarily for energy infrastructure projects, from feasibility studies and FEED through to Detailed Design and occasionally construction and commissioning. Our Solution portfolio in our growing EMEA region includes Renewables, Grid, Power Generation, BESS, and Data Centre.

This role aligns to Black & Veatch’s Power Providers, which focuses on the holistic demands for energy generation markets that include utilities, independent power producers and new non-traditional entrants adding to the much-needed supply of secure, clean power to our industries and communities. By joining our market sector, you will have the opportunity to put sustainable energy solutions into practice.

The Senior Business Development Manager is accountable for the success of business development and sales efforts within the UK/European region. You'll join a dynamic team of 3 Senior Business Development Managers based in our Glasgow, Madrid and Dubai offices and will report to the Sales & Marketing Director EMEA. We work in a matrix organization that aligns the goals of Business Sectors/ Solutions and Regional Profit/Loss centres. You'll be focused on several targets and strategic clients, in addition to selling Black & Veatch Solutions across the UK and Europe. This role can be based in our Glasgow or London office. We work a hybrid schedule of 3 days in office, 2 days from home. Some travel throughout the UK and wider EMEA region will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop winning strategies and participates in preparation of proposals for prospective new business.
  • Understand client needs and generate sales opportunities.
  • Implements strategies that enable the EMEA region to obtain new business targets.
  • Monitors, develops, and pursues new business opportunities in the region.
  • Manages business development budgets and business development events.
  • Coordinates with other business units in the pursuit of business for the benefit of the entire company.
  • Conducts all dealings with clients with professionalism, integrity and high ethical standards.
  • Provides prospect reporting, forecasts, client feedback and other information necessary to support business unit and company business planning.
  • Actively uses and maintains Black & Veatch Client Relationship Management Database (Salesforce).
  • Develops proactive client account plans and winning opportunity strategies as appropriate.
  • Acts as principal client activist for assigned clients and represents the voice of the client within internal Black and Veatch meetings.
  • Implements appropriate Black and Veatch screening for new business opportunities.

Management Responsibilities

Acts in capacity of a "lead person." Does not have management responsibility for the people to whom they provide work direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge and overall understanding of the Energy Market (Power Generation / BESS / Renewables) business drivers and motivators.
  • Team player who exhibits high ethical standards and maintains a reputation of integrity among clients.
  • Proposal and general contract negotiating skills which includes knowledge of terms, risks, pricing, and payment terms.
  • Excellent communications and presentation skills (written, verbal).
  • Self-motivated and Sales Driven.
  • Ability to sell with strong negotiating and persuasive skills.
  • Ability and willingness to travel nationally and occasionally internationally.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Seasoned professional in direct selling, marketing, or proposal management.
