We are now hiring a CDM Advisor to support projects in the UK and Republic of Ireland. The role is based in our Glasgow city centre office, with travel to sites around the UK around 3 times per month. When not on site, you'll work 3 days per week in the office and 2 days from home. Reporting into our Engineering and CDM Compliance Lead EMEA, you’ll work closely with our clients and internal teams to deliver projects in a safe and compliant manner. Black and Veatch set high standards for Health and Safety and are looking for individuals who can undertake the CDM Advisor/Principal Designer role with a professional, constructive, and collaborative approach. This position requires in depth knowledge of Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015 and specifically Principal Designers roles and responsibilities, as well as familiarization with the Designers and Principal Contractors roles and responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities- Ensure CDM Principal Designers and Designers roles and responsibilities are fulfilled in accordance with CDM 2015 Regulations requirements.
- Support Black and Veatch in fulfilling the duties of the Principal Designer as defined under CDM 2015 including where necessary carrying out the role of CDM-Advisor to support the client.
- Support Black and Veatch in fulfilling PSDP role on the projects in Ireland when required.
- Liaise with CDM Principal Designers, Clients and Designers to share any information relevant to planning, management, monitoring and coordination of the design, construction and commissioning phases of the project.
- Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety in the pre-construction phase.
- Help and advise the client in bringing together pre-construction information, and provide the information designers and contractors need to carry out their duties.
- Several years’ experience in the construction industry with experience of CDM/Health and Safety issues in construction.
- Excellent working knowledge and understanding of CDM 2015 and appropriate safety legislation in UK and Republic of Ireland.
- Demonstrable previous experience in successfully delivering the Principal Designer and CDM Advisor roles on energy or industrial large scale projects.
- NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
- Incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPs).
- Full and clean driver’s license.
- Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content as assigned.
- Intermediate industry knowledge and technology trends.
- Intermediate knowledge of construction & constructability practices & principles.
- Intermediate knowledge of procurement & contract administration.
- Working knowledge of process, procedures for project controls and estimating.
- Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) qualifications.
- Energy sector experience.
- Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH), or working towards.
