Job Summary

The role of CDM Advisor supports projects in the UK and Republic of Ireland, working from our London or Glasgow offices and traveling to sites about three times a month. When not on site, you will work three days per week in the office and two days from home. You will report to our Engineering and CDM Compliance Lead EMEA, collaborating closely with clients and internal teams to deliver projects in a safe and compliant manner.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure CDM Principal Designers and Designers roles and responsibilities are fulfilled in accordance with CDM 2015 Regulations.
• Support Black & Veatch in fulfilling the duties of the Principal Designer, including carrying out the role of CDM‑Advisor to support clients.
• Support Black & Veatch in fulfilling the PSDP role on projects in Ireland when required.
• Liaise with CDM Principal Designers, clients and designers to share information relevant to planning, management, monitoring and coordination of the design, construction and commissioning phases.
• Plan, manage, monitor and coordinate health and safety in the pre‑construction phase, taking account of relevant information that might affect design work.
• Help and advise the client in consolidating pre‑construction information and provide the information designers and contractors need to carry out their duties.

Minimum Qualifications

• Several years’ experience in the construction industry with strong CDM/Health and Safety background.
• Excellent working knowledge of CDM 2015 and relevant safety legislation in the UK and Republic of Ireland.
• Demonstrable experience delivering Principal Designer and CDM Advisor roles on large energy or industrial projects.
• NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent and NEBOSH Construction Certificate.
• Incorporated member of the Association for Project Safety (IMaPs).
• Full and clean driver’s licence.

Preferred Qualifications

• Advanced ability to interpret engineering deliverable content and intermediate industry knowledge of engineering, procurement and contract administration.
• Intermediate knowledge of construction and constructability practices, procurement and contract administration.
• Working knowledge of project controls, estimating and process procedures.
• Project Supervisor Design Process (PSDP) qualifications.
• Energy sector experience.
• Chartered Member of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards it.
