Job Summary
As we continue to grow our business in the EMEA region, Black and Veatch are now hiring an HSE Advisor in our Glasgow, UK office to support implementation and maintenance of external certifications (including ISO 14001 and ISO 45001), training and audit activity across our offices and multiple engineering design and EPcM projects.
You’ll report to our ESHS (Environment, Safety, Health and Security) Lead EMEA, taking responsibility for Health, Safety and Environment compliance activity for assigned projects and offices, in the UK and potentially in other key EMEA locations longer term. You’ll work closely with our EMEA Quality Lead and our other site-based HSE Advisors.
This role is based in our Glasgow city centre office, with some travel to our London office and occasionally to project sites both domestically and internationally. We work a hybrid schedule of 3 days per week in the office, 2 days remote.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and implements HSE programs that assist the offices and projects to meet company and UK safety and health goals and expectations.
- Develops and conducts employee safety and health training programs for offices.
- Conducts office and project site visits, safety and health inspections and safety and health program and legal compliance audits.
- Maintains ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 Management Systems for the business operations.
- First point of contact for all compliance EHS Audit requests and liaison with ISO Lead for the business.
- Conducts reviews of proposals and prequalifications and provides EHS input.
- Develops Emergency Action Plans for offices and projects where applicable.
- Develops project specific safety and health plans and processes.
Minimum Qualifications
- NEBOSH National Diploma- level 6 or higher H&S Qualification
- ISO HSE Lead Auditor certified from a recognized provider.
- Previous HSE experience within Engineering and Construction industry
- Knowledge of UK safety and health standards, practices and law
- Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 set up, implementation and maintenance
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with legal compliance audits and interfacing with auditing bodies.
- Working knowledge of Environmental laws, Compliance & Permitting
- Working knowledge of CDM Regulations
- Knowledge of Health & Safety budgeting and cost control, security risk and control processes and procedures.
