We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Consultant Gastroenterologist to join a multidisciplinary medical team in the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology services, contribute to endoscopy provision, and support service development, teaching, and clinical governance in line with UK best practice standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide consultant-level care for patients with acute and chronic gastrointestinal and hepatobiliary conditions
- Deliver outpatient clinics and inpatient ward consultations
- Perform diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy in line with JAG standards (where applicable)
- Participate in gastrointestinal and hepatology multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings
- Contribute to acute medical and gastroenterology on-call rotas as required
- Work collaboratively with surgeons, radiology, pathology, nursing, and allied health professionals
- Support service development, audit, quality improvement, and clinical governance initiatives
- Supervise, mentor, and teach junior doctors and trainees.
Requirements
- Minimum 3–5 years of experience at consultant or senior specialist level in Gastroenterology
- Medical degree with completed specialist training in Gastroenterology (or GIM with gastroenterology subspecialty)
- GMC registration (preferred) — candidates eligible for or in the process of GMC registration will also be considered
- Experience in endoscopy is desirable; JAG accreditation or eligibility is an advantage
- Strong knowledge of NICE guidance and evidence-based gastroenterology practice
- Excellent clinical judgment, leadership, and communication skills
- Commitment to continuous professional development and high-quality patient care
- Willing to relocate in the United Kingdom.
