About Varicon: Varicon is an innovative, fast-growing startup in the Australian construction tech space. Our platform enables contractors of different sizes to efficiently and substantially reduce their financial risk by enabling real-time visibility into their portfolio's financial management. We’re building a high-performing, collaborative engineering culture and looking for a passionate Product Designer to help us scale our platform and shape the future of construction technology.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Lead end-to-end design for core modules across web and mobile platforms, from discovery to high‑fidelity delivery.
- Translate complex construction workflows into intuitive, user‑friendly digital experiences.
- Conduct user research and usability testing with construction professionals to deeply understand their pain points, workflows, and needs in the field and office environments, including validating design decisions and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Collaborate closely with product managers, engineers, and domain experts to define user journeys and optimize usability.
- Create prototypes, design specs, and documentation that bridge communication between design and development teams.
- Participate in design critiques, contribute to UX strategy, and help elevate design culture across the company.

Required Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience as a Product Designer, UI/UX Designer, or similar role.
- Proficiency in modern design tools (Figma preferred).
- Solid understanding of responsive design, interaction design, and information architecture.
- Hands‑on experience with component‑based design systems (preferably MUI).
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to communicate design rationale clearly.
- Portfolio demonstrating product thinking, UX depth, and visual polish.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal.
Desirable Skills
- Experience designing for SaaS or enterprise platforms.
- Understanding of construction, project management, or cost tracking workflows.
- Familiarity with front‑end frameworks (React, MUI, HTML/CSS).
- Experience conducting user interviews or usability testing.
- Ability to transform user feedback and analytics into design improvements.
