The FX Artist Role at Black Kite involves working across a wide variety of high-end VFX projects. You will create realistic phenomena such as smoke, fire, fluids, clouds, explosions, debris, and crowds. There is also the opportunity to work on stylised, design-led projects, creating stunning images using various simulation and procedurally driven techniques. Additionally, you will apply your broader TD & generalist skills on projects.
Responsibilities:
- Creating photo-real and stylised fluid, particle, rigid-body, cloth, fur, and crowd simulations.
- Create & support FX setups and tools.
- Designing and developing innovative and creative technical solutions to create FX.
- Troubleshoot scenes, renders, and the pipeline as necessary.
- Work effectively with other artists in a creative, collaborative team.
- Technically and creatively promote and maintain consistent shot quality and desired look.
- Deliver projects that look visually outstanding on time and on budget.
- Inspire a culture of creative innovation.
- Lighting and rendering of FX work for integration into VFX or full-CG shots and sequences.
About You:
- Experience creating photo-real and stylised FX for VFX projects, ideally in Advertising.
- Excellent knowledge of Houdini, Arnold, and Mantra.
- A thorough understanding of techniques and technologies related to FX and the wider VFX pipeline.
- Keen to use wider TD & generalist skills.
- A critical eye and a can-do problem-solving attitude.
- A keen eye for quality control and visual style.
- Excellent communicator and team player.
- Good working knowledge of Nuke for creating pre-comps.
- Always strive to produce outstanding visual results.
